Cookie Policy
Last updated: 23.06.2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Specala AI ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on https://specala.ai and https://app.specala.ai (the "Sites"). It supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
1.1. Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and software development kits that store or access information on your device. In this Policy we refer to all of them as "cookies".
1.2. Cookies may be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a provider we use, such as an analytics provider). They may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain for a set period).
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies to: keep the Sites working and secure; remember your preferences (including your cookie choices); and understand how the Sites are used so we can improve them. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising, and we do not sell information collected through cookies.
We group cookies into the categories below. Only strictly necessary cookies are set without your consent; all others are set only after you allow them (where required by law — see Section 4).
2.1. Strictly necessary (always on)
These are required for the Sites to function and cannot be switched off. They do not require consent.
| Cookie / storage | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
specala_cookie_consent_v1 |
Specala (first-party, local storage) | Remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask again | Persistent (until you clear it) |
| Session / authentication cookies | Specala (first-party) | Keep you signed in and secure your session | Session |
| Security & load-balancing cookies | Specala / hosting provider | Protect the Service and route requests | Session |
2.2. Analytics / performance (consent required)
These help us understand how visitors use the Sites (pages viewed, features used) on an aggregate basis. They are set only if you consent.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google (Google Analytics 4) | Distinguishes users for usage statistics | 2 years | Third-party |
_ga_<container-id> |
Google (Google Analytics 4) | Maintains session state for usage statistics | 2 years | Third-party |
We currently use Google Analytics 4 as our only non-essential technology. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies. If this changes, we will update this Policy and our consent banner.
3. Third-party providers and international transfers
3.1. Google Analytics is provided by Google. Information collected (such as your IP address and usage events) may be processed by Google, including in the United States, subject to Google's terms and safeguards. We configure Google Analytics to limit the data collected where reasonably possible.
3.2. Where cookie data involves a transfer of personal data outside your region, we rely on the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy (Section 7, International transfers).
4. Your choices and consent
4.1. EU/EEA, UK, and similar (opt-in). If you are in a region that requires prior consent, non-essential cookies are set only after you accept them through our cookie banner. The banner lets you Accept all, Reject all, or choose by category, with equal prominence; you can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link on the Sites. Rejecting non-essential cookies will not affect access to the Sites' core functionality.
4.2. United States (opt-out / GPC). If you are in a US state that provides an opt-out, you may opt out of non-essential analytics as described in our Privacy Policy. We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid opt-out where applicable.
4.3. Browser controls. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Because some cookies are essential, blocking all cookies may affect how the Sites work. Instructions are available in your browser's help pages.
4.4. Withdrawing consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. After you reject or withdraw, we will not ask you again for at least six months unless our cookies materially change.
5. Changes to this Policy
5.1. We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in the law. The current version is published on the Sites with its effective date. Material changes are notified as described in our Terms and Privacy Policy.
